You never grow out of Barbie!

We have started this tradition, for all of those who have birthdays in January from our church body, we dress up and make it a night on the town with dinner and some sort of activity. In the past, we have done themes like the 80's which that was wild and crazy, and last year was the 70's which was a bit calmed down as far as dress goes. Our activities have been ice skating and bowling. Well, this year we decided to spice it up a bit, so our theme was Barbie!! We went to eat pizza and went roller skating with a bunch of little kids, who you know, loves Barbie!

It was a great time!

Even our Pastor's wife Mrs. G came along,

she even wore her daughters 80's prom dress!

It was great!

We had 80's Rock Barbie, Cowgirl Barbie,

Plastic Surgeon Barbie, Workout Barbie, some Latin Barbies,

Victorian Barbie, Sailor Barbie, and Teacher Barbie.

I think we covered them all just about!

So, who knows what we'll do next year!!

Be Thou Exalted

It is truly amazing how just last night before I went to bed, that the Lord was laying this on my heart and I was writing it in my journal that I would make Him first in my life, make Him my number one and no one else or nothing else. How I have been putting other things, technology, people, laziness in front of Him and that I need Him to make me disciplined in everything, in making Him first and foremost!!

January: Personal Life

Some things may be neglected with but little loss to the spiritual life, but to neglect communion with God is to hurt ourselves where we cannot afford it.

Personal Life: Be Thou Exalted

The Lord lives! Blessed by my Rock! Let God be exalted, the Rock of my salvation! --2 Samuel 22:47

O God, be Thou exalted over my possessions. Nothing of earth's treasures shall seem dear unto me if only Thou art glorified in my life. Be Thou exalted over my friendships. I am determined that Thou shalt be above all, though I must stand deserted and alone in the midst of the earth. Be Thou exalted above my comforts. Though it mean the loss of bodily comforts and the carrying of heavy crosses, I shall keep my vow made this day before Thee. Be Thou exalted over my reputation. Make me ambitious to please Thee even if as a result I must sink into obscurity and my name be forgotten as a dream. Rise, O Lord, into Thy proper place of honor, above my ambitions, above my likes and dislikes, above my family, my health and even my life itself. Let me decrease that Thou mayest increase; let me sink that Thou mayest rise above. Ride forth upon me as Thou didst ride into Jerusalem mounted upon the humble little beast, a colt, the foal of an ass, and let me hear the children cry to Thee, "Hosanna in the highest." The Pursuit of God, 101-102.

"In my increasing knowledge of You, Lord, and as I spend more time in solitude and silence before You, this prayer becomes so logical. Be Thou exalted in my life. Amen."

Snap Crackle Pop Fall Down

So, two nights ago we lost all power to pretty much then entire city of Springfield and the surrounding area, due to ice. No snow, just ice ice and more ice, and there is supposed to be more coming today. It is so unbelievable! I haver never been in or apart of anything like this before. It is considered a state of emergency, like a hurricane came through here or something, at least that's what the stores look like. I went to Walmart last night to get a few things, and there was hardly anything left. All the pudding cups were gone, and the water, canned foods, hot dog buns were totally gone, it was like we were going to have this enormaous hurricane come through and everyone was buying stock in everything. Last night a bunch of us went over to Marie's and Erin's house because she has a fireplace, and we all snuggled around the fire to keep warm, with all of 40 or more candles surrounding us for light. Her parents brought over their camping stove run by propane and we cooked some stew on there and boiled some water for hot chocolate. I cooked some hot dogs on the fire and we played Apple to Apples and just had a good ol time listening to the trees cracking and falling in the back ground. I highly suggest that if you have never experienced this before, you do sometime, move to a cold climate and just wait for the ice to come, it's beautiful!!

Here we go!

Well, I thought I'd try something new and different, since everyone and their mother is on myspace now. We'll see how it goes!
